Philanthropic History
In 2013, Marvin and Harlene Wool created the Harlene and Marvin Wool Foundation so their longstanding philosophy of giving back to the community could be continued by their children and future generations.
Marvin Wool passed away in 2014 and Harlene’s passing followed in 2018. They are greatly missed by their family, friends, and the community leaders who remember and appreciate their generosity and devotion to the city of St. Louis. Marvin Wool enjoyed a long career in St. Louis as a successful entrepreneur, investor, and business owner with his wife Harlene by his side. He founded Dash MultiCorp, which he grew to a national holding company with 15 subsidiary operations. He also chaired Allegiant Bank, which under his direction grew from a single office to the seventh largest bank in the state of Missouri.
Their three children; Denise, Sandon, and Amye, grew up learning the value of charity along with personal responsibility and self-sufficiency. The family believed in helping others less fortunate than themselves, especially those trying to help themselves.
During their lifetimes, the Wools made significant contributions to many prominent St. Louis institutions such as St. Louis University, the Jewish Community Center Association, St. Luke’s Hospital, and the St. Andrews Charitable Foundation. The Wool name is recognized at these institutions to honor the husband and wife team who were successful for many years in business and committed to giving back to the St. Louis community.
The Harlene and Marvin Wool Foundation was created to continue their philanthropy to the St. Louis community. Today, their family continues to honor their legacy.
